Service boost for Tramlink

The number of tram services between Croydon and Wimbledon is being inreased by 50 per cent.

It means that from Monday, April 4, 12 trams her hour will go into Wimbledon station following the completion of work to build an additional tram platform at Wimbledon station last year.

The extra services will help to meet increasing passenger demand on Croydon’s tram network which has experienced rapid growth in passenger numbers since it opened in 2000, from 18.5 million passengers in its first year of operation to over 32 million in 2014/15.

The demand is forecast to increase to around 60 million by 2030.
