Gatwick Airport says it is preparing for its busiest summer yet after announcing three years of consecutive growth.
Around 3.1 million passengers travelled through the airport in March, a 5.8 per cent year on year increase.
Chief excutive Stewart Wingate said: “Three years of consecutive month and month growth shows Gatwick continues to provide what our passengers want – more choice and better value to a greater range of destinations.
"Our 20 new routes this summer, including Hong Kong, Cape Town, Vancouver, Lima and Costa Rica, are a resounding endorsement of the airport, from our existing carriers plus new airlines including Cathay Pacific and WestJet."
Meanwhile, Gatwick says its £1.2billion transformation programme is continuing at pace.
St Catherine’s Hospice has been selected by staff as its local charity partner for the next two years with Cancer Research UK as the national charity partner, while it will continue to support the on-airport charity TravelCare.
