Newman announces cabinet change

Mark Watson has been appointed as cabinet member for the economy and jobs in a reshuffle announced by council leader Toni Newman.

Councillor Watson replaces long-standing Toni Letts, who is shortly expected to become Deputy Mayor.

Other changes see Hamida Ali take Councillor Watson’s previous role as cabinet member for communities, safety and justice.

Stuart King is replacing Kathy Bee a cabinet member for transport and environment.

Councillor Newman said: “I’m really pleased to be welcoming Hamida and Stuart to the cabinet. I have been really impressed with their work in helping to deliver some of the administration’s key priorities and I’m looking forward to working with them through the exciting changes ahead of us.

"We’ve had a really successful two years, and I’d like to thank Kathy and Toni for their excellent contribution and experience in helping to push forward with our manifesto.

"But we still have so much more to do and I believe we have the right team in place to continue to deliver the best for our residents at such an important time for Croydon.”

The remaining cabinet positions are unaltered.
