Taco Bell, one of America’s most famous Mexican-inspired fast-food chains, will be opening in Croydon early next year, as it brings the brand to London for the first time.
It will move into the vacant unit on George Street, which was previously occupied by Scrumpchinos.
The American chain says an official opening date is yet to be decided, although it has been confirmed the store opening will create 55 jobs.
As well as the Croydon store, three other restaurants will be opening across London in the coming months.
“We’ve had our sights set on London for quite some time, and as we continue growing internationally, we’re excited to bring Taco Bell to one of the world’s largest cities – and one of our most-requested markets,” said Liz Williams, president at Taco Bell International.
“We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response to our UK restaurants, and have ambitious plans for growth in London and the broader UK, targeting more than 30 UK restaurants by the end of the year.”
The chain, which already has 27 restaurants in the UK, opened its first London store on King Street, Hammersmith, on Friday (November 23). It will also open a store on Southampton Row, Holburn on Friday, November 30, and a restaurant on Fulham Broadway, Fulham in early 2019.
