An event has been held to celebrate work being completed at the highest point of the Verde House building in Croydon.
The ‘topping out’ ceremony took place at the top of the 14 storey development in Cairo New Road on Tuesday (26 March).
The modern development, which is due to complete next year, will include 113 new homes featuring high quality one, two and three bedroom apartments. These will be a variety of affordable homes for local people.
The scheme is being delivered by contractor Skillcrown on behalf of housing association Optivo.
A ceremony was held at the full height of the development, around 50 metres from ground, and Bunmi Atta, Director of Construction at Optivo, placed a commemorative brick to mark the milestone.
Ms Atta said: “We’re delighted to have reached this milestone at Verde House. It’s a really exciting time for Croydon with so much regeneration happening across the town centre. We’re passionate about doing our bit to tackle the housing crisis and look forward to seeing the completion of this fantastic scheme at the heart of the borough’s historic old town.”
