Croydon is a very different place to what it was just a few years ago – full of vibrancy and optimism as one of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration programmes takes place.
To showcase this, the Develop Croydon Investor Tour takes place this Wednesday, September 27, showcasing the buildings that are changing the skyline while the Connected Croydon programme makes a real difference to the way people move around the town.
Having had great success over the years in terms of both changing perceptions about the town and attracting inward investment and this week’s Tour is almost fully subscribed. However a couple of places still remain – please email bstephensmith@wlcreative.org.uk
The tour will start in Boxpark, which has been hugely successful since opening last autumn, before taking a look at the Ruskin Square development next to East Croydon station.
It will then go on a tram tour followed by a coach trip and a walking tour – stopping for coffee at the RISEgallery, visiting the Whitgift Foundation’s historic Almshouses and seeing the site where the Croydon Partnership will build their £1.4billion retail and leisure destination. The tour will culminate in lunch at Renaissance, a new Grade A office delivered by Abstract a couple of years ago.
There will be introductory speeches from Richard Plant, chair, and Katharine Glass, from Develop Croydon. Throughout the tour, Richard, a director of Stiles Harold Williams, will be joined by Vanessa Clark, director of Sinclair Clark, in providing their expertise on the local market.
Guests will also hear about the Ruskin Square development and from Nick Baker, head of customer services for London Trams; Martin Corney, chief executive of the Whitgift Foundation; and Caroline Kenney and Steve Yewman, the respective development directors of Hammerson and Westfield who make up the Croydon Partnership.
This tour has been made possible by the Develop Croydon Forum, a not-for-profit community interest company which consists of a group of over 60 businesses, partners, agencies and individuals whose main aim is to promote Croydon as a location to invest, work and live.
