Croydon is gearing up for an exciting summer with a string of major events and cultural activities having been confirmed in recent weeks.
Here is a calendar of confirmed events across the borough over the next few months.
MAY
Rooftop cinema: The Lost Format Society, Croydon’s award-winning rooftop cinema and bar, returns for 2017 on Thursday, May 18 on the top deck of Centrale car park in Tamworth Road.
Croydon Cycle Fest 2017: The return of Tour Series cycling to the town centre on Thursday, May 18 with a day full of activities to promote healthy lifestyles, charity and children’s races, street food and much more.
Addiscombe Carnival: The annual carnival takes place in Ashburton Park on Sunday, May 28 with music, stalls, food and a fun fair.
JUNE
Croydon Environmental Fair: The borough’s green groups will come together for a day of awareness-raising and community spirit on Saturday, June 10 with music in the bandstand, food and much more.
New Addington Carnival: Two days of family fun and entertainment with floats, competitions and stalls on Saturday June 10 and Sunday, June 11.
Crystal Palace Overground Festival: A mainly free community arts and culture festival from Monday, June 12 to Sunday, June 18 mainly run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
Croydon Summer of Love Festival: Taking place in Wandle Park on Saturday, June 17, the free community event will celebrate 50 years since 1967’s iconic happenings.
Croydon Heritage Festival: Now celebrating its fifth year and back by popular demand, Croydon Heritage Festival is returning from Saturday, June 24 until Friday, June 30. This year’s festival is themed Evolution, looking at the changing face of Croydon.
Croydon Food and Music Festival: The one-day event showcasing Croydon’s Restaurant Quarter returns to South End for a sixth year on Sunday, June 25, 2017.
Purley Festival: After a year off, this year’s programme includes a cinema in the park with a weekday programme from Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 30 followed by a weekend event at Rotary Field on Saturday and Sunday, July 1 and 2.
JULY
Andy Warhol Month: An initiative being brought to Croydon by the RISEgallery this summer to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking artist’s death.
Croydon PrideFest 2017: The celebration of the local LGBT+ community on Saturday, July 15 features a Pride parade to the main festival area in the Queen’s Gardens where there will be music, dance, food and drink.
