Croydon Sports Arena will be closed from October 11 to 30 while it undergoes a £25,000 makeover.
Croydon Council is investing in new pole vault and long jump runways, a full re-make of the track lanes, a deep clean of the facilities and a series of other essential repairs.
The venue in South Norwood has an eight-lane all weather 400m running track and a floodlit senior football pitch as well as a free car park.
As well as playing host to Croydon FC’s league, cup and youth games during the football season, the Arena is home to Croydon Harriers Athletics Club for athletics fixtures throughout the summer and all-year training.
Croydon Arena is also used by Wheels for Wellbeing and Cycling on Referral, which enable cycling using tricycles and other purpose-built bicycles for people with disabilities and special needs, while an archery club meets every Sunday from 1-3pm.
