A leading developer has spoken of the excitement being generated by Croydon’s Crane Count, with 10 already on site across the town centre.
Two of those are on the Morello scheme being developed by Menta Redrow on the Cherry Orchard Road side of East Croydon station.
Speaking in a Just a Minute session at the Develop Croydon Conference, at which business people were invited to sum up the town in 60 seconds, Menta chief executive Craig Marks said: “When I arrived here 25 years ago, Croydon had the basic infrastructure but the public realm was crying out to be delivered.

“But as I arrived in Croydon today, we’ve got two cranes on our side of East Croydon station – with a third one coming next week – and four cranes on the Stanhope Schroder site on the opposite side. I think we’ve got 10 cranes in Central Croydon.
“So as we launch the Croydon Crane Count, we predict there will be 25 cranes within a square mile in 2017, probably more than any other London borough. How exciting is that?”
