Amazon is seeking sites in a raft of UK cities, including Croydon for its Treasure Truck click & collect concept.
Under the plans, the online retailer will park trucks in high-footfall locations that will serve as collection points for customers taking advantage of its one-day promotional offers.
The service originated in the US and made its UK debut in London’s Charing Cross and Manchester’s Portland Street at the end of last year.
Amazon is looking for spaces of 750 sq ft to park its trucks for several hours on dates that will be agreed in advance.
Target locations in London include Waterloo, Covent Garden and Croydon, while it is also seeking spaces in Leeds, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Southampton and Reading. Amazon could eventually sign deals for between five and 25 locations in each city.
It is thought Hammerson has been in discussions with the online retail giant to bring the trucks to its shopping centres. Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed by Amazon to find the sites.
