Croydon has once again become the back drop of a hit TV series as Black Mirror takes over St George’s Walk to film its latest series.
The Netflix series, written by Charlie Brooker, has taken Croydon back to the 1980’s with a set of retro-style shopfronts, including a vintage WHSmith shop kitted out with music and books from the era and fast-food restaurants Wimpy and Pizza Hut.
Local businesses and residents received a letter from the production company Ealing Studios, which stated:
“I am writing to inform you about filming in your area for the well-known Netflix drama series, Black Mirror. If you are unfamiliar with Black Mirror, it is a series of sharp, suspenseful, satirical standalone dramas written by Charlie Brooker. It is hugely popular with its audience and strives to use beautiful locations within all the films.”
Croydon can now be added to that list of locations.
