One of the UK’s best surviving examples of modernist architecture is being transformed into a blueprint for modern urban living.
The developers behind Leon House, an iconic Croydon office block, intend to buck the trend for permitted development conversions by ensuring its apartments meet the Mayor of London’s space standards.
While the quality of some PDR developments has caused controversy, FI Real Estate Management is pledging to create an executive complex fit for 21st century living, while maximising some of the building’s existing features.
“Leon House is set to become one of the landmark properties within the highly desirable Croydon regeneration area,” said Mark Adams, Associate Development Director of FI Real Estate Management.
“Close to South Croydon’s famous Restaurant Quarter, the building will be an integral part of an area which is extremely popular with Croydon’s young creative tech and professional community.”
The plan is to convert the building into 263 spacious one and two-bedroom apartments, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering residents views over London. A communal rooftop Sky Garden adds to the luxurious proposals.
The apartments are being released for sale through Countrywide Residential Developments with completion dates scheduled next year.
