Join the debate on Croydon’s retail future

With the date set for the crucial final planning meeting in Croydon’s journey towards its long-promised Westfield/Hammerson shopping centre, make sure you don’t miss your chance to join the debate.

Just one week after Croydon’s planning committee determines its future, Croydon’s retail future is set to be a hot topic at the 2017 Develop Croydon Conference, entitled Meanwhile in Croydon.

Liz Hamson of Property Week will chair a debate with Myf Ryan from Westfield and Sophie Ross from Hammerson – the companies forming the Croydon Partnership which is aiming to bring forward the £1.4billion retail and leisure destination – as well as Andrew Phipps of CBRE.

Croydon has long been a retail destination, and this reputation is set to be renewed, but the industry is changing as it adapts to technological advances.

Among the questions which are set to be addressed are: What impact has this had on Croydon already? What effect has it had on the industrial offering? What will it mean for the town in the future as the online retail market continues to grow?

Joint-sponsored by Gatwick Airport and CBRE the summit on Tuesday, November 21 is being chaired by Lucy Hockings, lead presenter on BBC World News.

Local leaders will be joined developers, architects, agents, cultural leaders and industry experts, to discuss a range of topics from the future of retail in a 21st century online world to what role does densification play in the town’s high-rise development?

Speakers on the day include: Myf Ryan, Westfield; Sophie Ross, Hammerson; Andrew Phipps, CBRE; Liz Hamson, Property Week; David Slater, London and Partners; Jo Negrini, London Borough of Croydon; Jonathan Gardiner, Savills; Keith Blundell, Blue Chip Tourism; Kieran White, Director of Vision Modular Systems, Tide; Marc Vlessing, Pocket Living; Neil Meredith, Schroders; Paul Norman, CoStar; Piers Gough, CZWG Architects; Richard Upton, U+I; Vanessa Clark, Sinclair Clark;
