Approval has been granted for an eleven-storey, 42 unit scheme in Scarbrook Road, a £20million programme in the car park formerly belonging to 1960s office block Green Dragon House, which Inspired has already converted into 119 apartments under permitted development rights.
The £20million Scarbrook House scheme will feature 13 three-bedroom, 20 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom apartments, subject to finalising the section 106 and GLA stage 2 sign off, with at least 10 units available to lower-income first-time buyers through a shared ownership scheme.
Inspired’s chief executive Martin Skinner said: “The scheme realises value from a now redundant car park that is the legacy of the former Green Dragon House office.
“The new development, Scarbrook House, will add 42 much-needed homes in a vibrant town centre location moments from Matthews Yard and Surrey Street Market, two popular Croydon hubs that are being regenerated for the community.
“Our proposals will provide a beautifully designed contemporary building with large balconies and lots of fenestration.
“The facade will comprise dark and light brickwork, contrasted with a light rendered grid, while a modern glazed brick design on the ground floor will add an engaging and colourful element to the building.”
Meanwhile, Inspired has also obtained consent to change the upper floors at Impact House from office to 38 new apartments.
The consent provides the 16-storey former office building, in Edridge Road, with a new residential façade and communal roof terrace on the ninth floor.
Apartments are available to purchase for prices starting at £304,950.
Mr Skinner added: “We are also delighted to receive our consent for Impact House, which paves the way for the transformation of this iconic building.”
