Sixteen homes for affordable rent have been provided in Purley after CCHA (Croydon Churches Housing Association) completed its fourth collaboration with Orbit Homes.
Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Patricia Hay-Justice, joined CCHA president Phyllis Baugh, from who the latest development takes its name, to officially open the scheme. Phyllis is an inspirational figure within the housing association, having provided more than 40 years’ service.
Construction of Phyllis Baugh Court cost £3.5million, including a £450,000 grant from the Greater London Authority.

Tracy Cullen, chief executive of CCHA, believes collaboration is vital within the social housing sector and says it will continue to play a key part of the housing association’s strategy.
"This is the fourth scheme we have completed in partnership with Orbit Homes since May 2013, providing more than 60 new homes for local people.
"There is an urgent need for housing in the boroughs within our community, so we are striving to help alleviate some of the pressure.
"We aim to have delivered another 350 new homes by 2020 and are currently looking at new sites."

All of the homes at Phyllis Baugh Court have been fitted with photovoltaic panels and voltage optimisers to combat the current fuel poverty crisis.
Construction of the properties began in April 2014 and residents who have moved in are delighted with their new homes.
"“The house is lovely; very spacious and in such a nice area," said one. "I have needed to move house for quite a while now and CCHA have provided me with the perfect home."
CCHA is a partner of the Develop Croydon Forum.
